Sorry, this establishment is no longer operating. :(

Well hey, I just mentioned Prince of Jaipur in a comment a few days ago, and would you look at that—it’s open! The long-boarded-up stall (well, it didn’t have boards, exactly… mostly manila paper covering the windows and a huge “Coming Soon” banner) in Fastbytes at Northgate has finally opened its doors to the public.

We dropped in for a quick visit and a couple of pieces of papadum and roti and ended up having a shawarma as well. That’s all we can handle for now, since the prices are still at The Fort levels: P220 for Vegetable Samosas, P450 for Chicken Curry, and a whopping P1,480 for the Skewer Special, 6 pieces of assorted kebabs. Drinks are at P45 for soda, P50 for local beers (P55 for Red Horse and Cerveza Negra). Not the sort of thing you’d order for a midnight snack (I was sort of hoping they’d have either downsized portions or more affordable items, the way Armani has A/X: something like Twist by Minggoy’s).

So we made do with two pieces of Fried Papadum (P25 each), an order of Roti Chanai (P110; my favorite little snack whenever I’m stuck at Shell McKinley), and a split-into-two Chicken Shawarma (P120). I’m withholding judgment until I can sample their main courses, which means I’ll have to wait ’til I’m in a spending mood that coincides with my spending capabilities, hehe. You’ll have to wonder when that will be, though… if I had a thousand bucks to blow on food, I’d make my way over to Massimo’s in Tagaytay or something a bit more special and out of the way; or at least I’d think Westgate instead of Northgate. This is something I’d like to get public opinion on: Would you spend fine dining prices for a restaurant in a fast food setting?
Let’s see what you think. In the meantime, wait for our next visit and our other pictures. :)

I know what you mean…the answer is NO! I go to Northgate everyday (I work there) and I get what you mean when you say “fast food” set up. Jaipur is across Mc Donald’s and right beside 7-11 for crying out loud!
So if I had 1000 bucks to blow on food…I’d go elsewhere.
i hear you cathy… panira ng ambiance ang mcdo and 7-11, hehe. baka yung the fort branch pwede pa…
oh wow! finally some indian food in the south!
great blog :)
do they also have shesha in jaipur in northgate?
I had dinner at prince of jaipur at MOA branch few days ago with my fiance and we didn’t liked it at all.The service is not so good. The waitress is either dumb or she doesn’t want to serve us at all.We were sitting there and she doesn’t act like she sees us.The indians cast us a weird look.If I didn’t call the waitress, she wouldn’t even give us the menu.We didn’t feel like we are welcome at all.The shawarma is terrible too and the pesto isn’t fresh (the pesto container looks cheap). The chicken soup taste like knorr INSTANT Soup. Its not worth the money at all.
