If you’ve ever stood in front of your full closet, pressed for time, but with absolutely nothing to wear, like I have (many, many times!) then you should seriously consider trying out this new concept: a fashion swap meet. The idea is to take the clothes in your closet that you never seem to wear (like the pants that you got on sale but that make your butt look big, or that absolutely gorgeous sweater that is sooo not your color) and swap them for clothes that you will wear!
The first ever swap meet will be held by on July 14th in Corinthian Gardens (unfortunately for us Southerners), courtesy of the up and coming fashion retail company Tangled Spangles.

If you want to haul your clothes over to QC, go right ahead! But because we Southerners are a huge market and a demanding bunch, Tangled Spangles assures us that the next swap meet will be somewhere in the South. They’ll even give Southbound readers free vouchers for that one (watch for it)! Oh, and you may want to suggest potential venues: airconditioned clubhouses are the best bet. In the meantime though, we’ll have to wait. In case you’re in the area, or if you’ve got friends who might be interested, do spread the word. Mechanics, terms, and conditions can be found on the Tangled Spangles site.
Here’s the official press release:
A BARGAIN-HUNTER’S PARTY COME-TRUE
Manila’s first Fashion Swap Meet
Already celebrated in hip and cool New York to sunny — la mode Singapore, it’s about time that Manila be introduced to its new best friend in bargain shopping — a Fashion Swap Meet, to take place on July 14 (1-5pm) in the Corinthian Gardens Clubhouse. A Fashion Swap Meet is a clothing trade party for that sensible fashionista. The event covers 3 simple steps: 1) bring in articles of clothing one intends to part with; 2) Mingle and enjoy free treats and mocktails; 3) Swap away and recreate a new wardrobe — all fun and perfect ways to makeover their tired closets.
A series of Swap Meets will be organized and hosted by Tangled Spangles, a retail company for shoes, clothing and accessories, which will be launching its latest line during this much awaited event. (Entrance fee for swap meet participants is P500 or P1200 for partners selling vintage clothing)
