Coffeaberry Blends - Cozy cafe in Pilar Village

Coffeaberry Blends Iced Latte

While Pilar Village is also becoming highly commercialized, unlike BF, there are few comfort food places here. The most popular stores are car washes, water refilling stations, and laundries, which we take to mean that residents are having a tough time with water, though thankfully the water situation hasnt gotten as bad as BFs yet. Then there are tapsihans and the occasional Japanese restaurant (which didnt last long enough for us to try it out). Then theres the one and only caf in the village, Coffeaberry Blends, which is happily prosperingsince its opening, its been regularly visited, has expanded, and now has moved to a new location.

Coffeaberry Blends

Coffeaberry Blends has been around for less than a year. Their first location was at the corner of Aguirre and Rose Avenues, and they used to run a 24 hour operation. Their spot was convenient enough to visit: you either took a tricycle or parked your car along the less traveled stretch of Aguirre, where you could also catch a quick bite at the 24 hour tapsihan across the caf (which was useful, since in the beginning, Coffeaberry didnt have much by way of food). Eventually they started limiting their hours, since apparently the place was most popular in the eveningsId drive by on my way home and find it packed most nights. Occasionally theyd have in house performances as well.

Coffeaberry Blends' new location

A month or so ago they transferred to the villages commercial center next to the entrance, into a pleasant new store with huge square tables (the last location just didnt have enough space, I guess). The new store is brighter, less cramped, and still as charming as the old one, and now theyve got food to boot. Seems like Ill be coming here more often, then.

Coffeaberry Blends Cappucino

The closest obvious comparison to Coffeaberry Blends would be Bag of Beans, since they also carry Civet coffee and meat pies. Its cozier, though, and has got more of a small village feel (uuuh perhaps because its in a smaller village?). The coffee is good, the prices are reasonable (Brewed Coffee goes for P45 / P55, a hot Macchiato or a cold Latte goes for P70 / P90, and their most expensive Frappes (theyve got Black Forest!) come in at P145), and the serving sizes of their pasta, though it initially looks rather small, is just right (at P75 bucks max, it certainly hits the spot!).

Coffeaberry Blends Walnut Pie

Coffeaberry Blends Carbonara

I personally love their Walnut Pie (P65, yum), and Ive already tried their Carbonara (P70), which is pretty good (its not fancy gourmet cooking, but its really quite comforting).

for some instore performances

The place is perfect for chilling out (theres a piano and an acoustic guitar tucked away in one corner, an indication that theyre still doing acoustic sets), having meetings (the large tables are really useful for this; my sister and I spread out a bunch of blueprints with no trouble the last time we were here), or just having a quick coffee in pleasant surroundings. And that means a lot in a village filled with utilitarian shops and macho talyers.

  1. Hey, that’s great! I’m not really aware of the new eating places in the south since moving to the UK. However, I go home twice a year and when I’m in town this December, I’ll look up Coffeaberry Blends. And I’ll try your recommendations, too.

  5. was at coffeaberry the other day, and discovered they have a promo to celebrate their first year anniversary! 80 bucks gets you a ticket and a chance to win gift certificates and 1 of 2 ipod shuffles. saya!

  6. I wish the piano was in tune so I could PLAY it. And the guitar too! Strings are missing. And they need to have brighter light there for reading ’cause they have books and i like their novels too! The coffee is ok but these past months they have no barako coffee. But the ambience is ok. Wish they had some sandwiches, filling sandwiches, not saucer sandwiches!

  7. This is part of the Friendship route which my sister usually passes by from her daily trip from Laguna to Las Pinas City. We are usually scouting for something new in the areas we are passing by! We definitely love Bag of Beans but Tagaytay is too far, this can be an alternative when we have the craving.

  8. Coffeaberry blends is now called ORCAFE. It was bought by one of its former coffee baristas. They still serve really good coffee & reasonable priced food. The coffee prices are a little bit priced higher than before since they carry a new line of coffee flavors.
They usually have acoustic nights every Friday & sometimes even Saturdays.
I love going to this place when I need a quiet place to study on weekdays & chill out (minus the alcohol) on weekends. You can even sing with the band if you want to. :)
