Blauorange Tech Totes - Yummy duds for your digital device

While laptop bags are dead useful for the new technology-toting crowd, sometimes it can be hard to find one that fits your needs. Amusingly enough, since we now carry our laptops around so often (to our virtual offices and cafes), we now have to be conscious about how stylish we look while lugging the things around! I admit to having a number of bags suited to bringing my machine around: a Samsonite tech backpack, a basic tote (Team Manila) hiding a padded envelope sleeve (by Blauorange!), and the usual serious Echolac computer bag, a throwback to my days in the IT industry. Having lots of bags, particularly ones that don’t obviously look like they’re stowing laptops (heck, I have a friend who uses a diaper bag) is quite an advantage: aside from the obvious style and outfit-matching benefits, your goods are less susceptible to opportunistic thefts.

Thankfully, dear friend Via Perlas, the creative bundle of energy behind Blauorange bags, now has a whole line of Tech Totes: compartment-laden polycanvass bags with detachable padded sleeves.

The bags come in such yummy colors as Citrus Choc (brown on the outside with an orange interior and orange sleeves), Purple Yam (a vivid purple sleeve with a greenish-gray exterior), Passion Fruit (light gray with deep pink), Pink Mallow (dark gray with soft pink), and Blueberry Pie (a clean brownish gray exterior with the sweetest blue sleeve). The sleeves are sized for the Macbook 13� and most 15� laptops (my 12� widescreen fits well too; my sleeve predates the Tech Totes line, though, so it looks different). The genius of the design is that the dark exterior is resistant to dirt, but the bright lining and sleeves just pop out at you. I imagine that’s the closest you’ll get to being cheerful about work, if that’s what you’re using your laptop for (of course, Friendster-checking and YM chat sessions are another story).

Tech Totes are now available in Powerbooks Greenbelt (we’re waiting for them to show up in Town). I can’t wait to go out and get one… the good news is, the price tag won’t make you feel guilty about getting yet another laptop bag–it’s only 910 bucks! Kudos to Blauorange!
