Mrs. Fields Cookie Cafe and the Blog and Soul Movement Launch

Mrs. Fields mmmmmmuffins

I suppose I must be in denial. (See, even my admission is half-hearted!) I constantly declare that Im not a sweet tooth only I do love cookies, ice cream, and all manner of pastries and desserts. Well, alright, alright maybe I am a sweet tooth.

Last nights joint eventa preview of the second branch of Mrs. Fields new caf concept and the Blog and Soul Movements formal launchhappily filled a need which I have long denied was there (plus, I got to take home cookies, yum!).

Mrs. Fields Cookie Cafe

Mrs. Fields Cookie Caf, located at the corner of UN Avenue and M. Orosa Street in Ermita, is the quintessential dessert placesugar-laden goodies as far as the eye can see. Make no mistake, there is nothing here but pure indulgence: cookies, muffins, brownies, cookie cups (little cookies masquerading as cupcakes), and the requisite coffee to wash it down (in case youre wondering why theres a plate of food among the pictures, thats just for the event). Its rather fitting that the caf is located next to a casinocan you sense the common indulgence theme here?

Unfortunately, I arrived late, so I missed the kitchen tour, and I was surrounded by a sea of bloggers with serious cameras, so I got camera-shy (call it point-and-shootitis). For a more detailed read, try the blogs of the guests; some notables whove already posted details of the event (and the food!) include Anton on Our Awesome Planet and Noemi on Pinoy Food Photoblog.

is it a cookie or a cake?

I also missed Jayvees speech for the Blog and Soul launch, so I suppose well have to do a late night raid of Westgate or Northgate to catch up (check out Juneds insightful post on baratillo@cubao for some thoughts on the Movement). Congratulations and thanks are in order for the Blog and Soul Movement, which has done a whole lot to make blogging a respectable medium right along with traditional print.

Mrs. Fields gelato

In any case, if you find yourself in Manila (or, even further, up North in QC, where they have a branch in Trinoma; the Manila store formally opens in September, so youll have to wait a bit), you may want to indulge your inner Cookie Monster at the Cookie Caf.

By the way, we’re still working out some kinks in the system, so we might not be as active in the next few days… we’ll come back full force when September rolls around, though!

  2. gita,

haha! yeah, though i actually didn’t get to try much. yan kasi, late, hehe. :)

but i do love mrs. fields, even if i don’t indulge in it too much. i remember way back in college (when i still hadn’t overdosed on subway everything-on-it sandwiches), we’d always order a cookie or a muffin to top off our meal in the subway / mrs. fields store along katipunan.

i did try the gelato in vanilla bourbon flavor. :) very sweet but at least it had a tinge of something different from your typical plain jane vanillas.

lapit na sya magopen, so you can go indulge yourself (and mon and the dolls! ;) ) soon.
