San Francisco Coffee - Hot food and free wifi

free wifi at San Francisco Coffee

There may be no such thing as a free lunch, but thankfully theres free wifi. Thats probably one of the reasons for San Francisco Coffees renewed popularity. The caf used to be located in Town Center, where Tony Romas is now. Unfortunately it didnt last very long (aside from the stiff caf competition in the mall, I personally found the place too loud for a coffeeshopit was connected to Tower Records for a time, and the store had regrettably bad acoustics). Now SFCs got a better location and theyre drawing a regular crowd, most likely composed of wifi-hungry on-the-go workers and Golds Gym-goers.

While a caf is a caf is a caf, SFC has hot food served on breakable plates (not microwavable plastic trays), which, along with the free wifi, is a big draw for me. Aside from the usual pasta, sandwich, and salad offerings, theyve got casseroles (Ive been meaning to try their Moussaka, P150, for a while now) and those little stuffed breadsticks that make for a good cheap snack (around P30 bucks) when youre trying to avoid sweets.

San Francisco Coffee Spaghetti Bolognese

San Francisco Coffee Spaghetti with Meatballs

Ive tried the Spaghetti Bolognese (one of their bestsellers, according to the menu card, P125) and their Meatballs (very fresh-tasting, slightly herby meatballs, also P125). Theyve got mini cakes as well, most notably the Flourless Chocolate Cake (P110) that looks like a little gift-wrapped bundle (its been a while since Ive had this, so I no longer recall if its a particularly good version of the dense fudge-like cake).

For some reason, I find ordering here a bit awkward, probably because the part of their counter with the cashier isnt very well defined, and the menu isnt complete (their menu board doesnt list their non-blended iced drinks, but I think you can have any hot drink prepared with ice; some items, like their yummy hot chocolate, dont appear on the menu at all).

San Francisco Coffee La Latte

Still, its a small thing to get over, a problem that disappears once youve found your regular drink. And with the free wifi and the lack of other cafs in Madrigal Business Park (I was always looking for a caf within walking distance when I worked in one of the buildings there), I figure Ill be here often enough to warrant having the usual.

  5. Tried and tested. I go to SFC for my dose of cafe mocha and free wifi, myself. But midnight is right. Can’t plug. Old swiss inn is also free wifi same area). Wondering if plugging is available… hmm.. but then again, might not make sense as it’s a dinner place.

    Any other free wifi in the south? :) Please please post. :D

  6. Free wifi - Starbucks Madrigal Ave. You can use power outlets too. In fact, you can use it as your office.

  8. @dba “Starbucks Madrigal Ave.” - is this the one beside pancake house?

  9. sorry for the very late reply. just woke up.

    @dijo:

    yes, it’s the one adjacent to pancake house.

    i’m not sure though if it’s still free till now; but i would think so.

    haven’t been there since october last year. right now i work in the kitchen (while cooking - seriously) and in the garage (still on Wi-Fi). working somewhere else (everyday) is just too expensive, even when wi-fi is free.
