Getting Away From it All - A cup of coffee at Buon Giorno

escape to a cup of coffee in Tagaytay

When the days are dark and drizzly, and the weather is cold and absolutely appropriate for just curling up in bed all day, all one wants to do is lounge around with friends over some piping hot cups of coffee. More so when there’s work galore, tons of meetings, and impossible deadlines to meet—in such cases, my hankering for coffee moves to another level, and I start craving coffee and a road trip!

Escapist fantasies, really, but at least there’s the perfect place to indulge these cravings, what with Tagaytay only an hour away, and the ridge lined with all maner of cafés and restaurants to choose from. Now, I haven’t actually been off on a coffee run recently (the last time was a few months ago, when a friend and I headed up around midnight and couldn’t find any place open except for Viewsite restaurant, not exactly a coffee and conversation place), but to honor the thought of it, here are some pictures from a pleasant afternoon spent at a fine restaurant at Cliff House: the cozy Italian restaurant Buon Giorno.

Buon Giorno Caramel Frappe

yummy caramel

The restaurant, though primarily a steak, pizza, and pasta place, also serves excellent concoctions based on Italian coffee, and the prices are just right for grabbing dessert and coffee after a quick drive (the meals are also quite reasonably priced, considering they do serve steak, after all; the menu items go from around 250 to 500 bucks, and the coffee drinks from 50 to 100).

Buon Giorno Panna Cotta

For dessert, they’ve got a range of cakes and an excellent Panna Cotta (P130), creamy but not too sweet, perfect with coffee and conversation (preferably about non-work-related matters; hahaha, can anyone tell I’ve got too many pressing deadlines staring me in the face?). One of these days, perhaps with more than a stolen afternoon on my hands, I’ll be back to enjoy a nice, hearty Italian meal (they serve breakfast too!). For now I can only dream… and post about it.

  5. ruy,

the coffee was good, and the selection was a bit limited, but they did have more than just plain brewed coffee. the cold drink in the picture is a caramel frappe. the hot drink is just brewed coffee. :)

i do want to go back to try the food, especially their risotto!!!

  6. Hi Betty,

I’ve tried their vegetable risotto, and it was the best. My boyfriend was never a fan of veggies ’til he tried that risotto. =)

  7. Boun Giorno serves really good food! But I haven’t tried their breakfast yet. Does anyone know what time do they stop serving breakfast?

  8. I love Buon Giorno. Sigh. The prices aren’t so bad and the food is great! The cheese pizza and the green goddess salad are delicious. They also have shakes in these really tall glasses! :)
