Part of my ongoing resolution to live life to the fullest is to eat healthy food with lots of charm. Now I know that sounds a bit strange (sort of like I expect my food to woo me; quite literally to wine and dine me, perhaps?), but hear me out: I mean food with integrity; food grown naturally (I don’t even want to say organically, just not the sort of thing that started life in a Petri dish), simple food produced locally, the sort you get at small shops by the side of the road, as opposed to in brightly lit supermarkets and chain stores (not that there’s anything wrong with supermarkets, of which I am also a huge fan, but small, quaint shops are always nice to discover).

One such shop has been unobtrusively holding court along

Their baguettes, in various stages of shrinkage, are pretty cheap, from the normal French, P55, to the Tiny French, P17, to the Mini French, P5; the football-like speckled Sesame Rolls go for ten bucks each (P6 for the small version). I came in for some baguettes and I got carried away and bought a square bit of foccacia for only 36 bucks and a piece of ciabatta with sun-dried tomatoes for only 8 bucks.

Low prices account for only some of this place’s charm; the rest comes from the thought that their bread is free of bromides and those strange, unpronounceable chemicals, and contain little (if any) sugar and oil. Their selection of whole wheat and multi-grain loaves made it easy for me to feel virtuous stocking up on breakfast goodies.

I was tempted to take some lemon squares (P29) and choco chip muffins (P28) to make up for (or reward myself for) my exceptional virtue, but I managed to resist the urge (maybe next time). I did try their Garlic Parsley Butter spread (P65), which went very well with the baguette, even when the bread was cold and untoasted.

Aside from the bread and spread, the shop also sells drinks and bottled goods like tuyo, dulong, sauce, and peanuts. They also make customized cakes, though I have no idea what their typical designs look like. And finally, for those who can’t be bothered to make the run to the bakery, they also have delivery service to Ayala Alabang, Filinvest,

Oh! You should try their gpeanuts. Crunchy.. sweet… salty …garlicky. I loooove their mini french bread and crusty bread mmmmmm yummy!
Wow! Tempting the Garlic Butter Parsley! How big (or little) is the P65 container? My garlic butter addiction kasi is only limited to Pan de Manila (hoy, masarap din yung sa kanila ha!) :D
their banana bread is the best!
w, addict ka talaga sa peanuts, pansin ko, hehe.
j, the garlic parsley butter comes in those little plastic containers around 2.5″ in diameter. enough to have you worry about your cholesterol, but not too much that you can’t finish it in a few days. that’s why you should share it, hehe.
I love this bakeshop! I usually end up buying more bread than planned! And I agree with nystateofmind, their banana bread is to die for! It’s great that their prices are reasonable, too. The lemon squares are ok, I still prefer the lemon squares of Becky’s Kitchen.
Hello everyone! Would anyone know how many grams is the P65 Garlic Parsley Butter?
