Anong nasa Aparador ni Imelda?

Aparador ni Imelda in Casa Susana

I’m not a big clothes shopper (I spend all my money on books and food), but I do enjoy browsing through boutiques, especially ones off the beaten path. Aparador ni Imelda (Imelda’s Closet) is not that far off the beaten path—it’s in Casa Susana, which is right next to Town Center—but it’s still something different from the usual mall shops. The shop is located across Omakase, and I often see patrons of the restaurant browse there while waiting for their tables. I’ve noticed it appeals to both the younger and more mature markets—I once observed three teenagers spend quite a while inside (the time it took me to finish a plate sushi over at Omakase)—though the selections are more suited to the latter (hey, maybe they were very precocious teenagers).

They’ve got imported clothes (and overruns) ranging from Ann Taylor shirts (some of the cheaper items, from P250 to P300), charming casual skirts, flirty empire tops and dresses, and jeans (they have quite a selection of maternity jeans), all ranging from perhaps around 900 to 3,000 bucks.

What sets them apart is a good selection of pre-owned designer bags, mostly LV (we saw a Speedy priced at P32,000), Gucci (from P19,000 to P32,000), and Coach (from P7,000 to P20,000), with some Nine West and Enzo items (from P2,000 to P3,500) and RL totes (around P2,000) thrown in for good measure. Shoes and wallets make up the rest of their pre-owned stock.

They also have a smattering of toiletries (mostly the usual Bath and Body Works selections) and personal effects, from jewelry and watches to sunglasses and tiny Totes umbrellas. Among my favorite finds: a canvas Nine West crescent bag in a cheery yellow print, a flouncy linen skirt with a pale blue and brown floral design, and a huge sateen diaper bag in black and burgundy, a perfect gift for a baby shower (or for yourself, if you’re a mom; the usefulness of changing pads and nappy compartments is lost on me).

Perfectly suited to the genteel atmosphere of Casa Susana, this shop brightens up the place and brings a little life to this less visited corner of Alabang.
