Here’s a little something I just had to share with the Southbound community: there are real live deer living in the South! I really don’t know if that’s a strange thing or not (heck, who knows what Singson has roaming around Baluarte, way up north?). All I know is, the first time my sister saw these guys, her husband thought she was imagining things. When I saw them, I felt awed—transported back to my childhood, watching Bambi at the Alabang Twin Cinemas, hahaha! I swear, they do look like Bambi.

This guy was nice enough to face the camera (maybe he’s a Pinoy deer) so there would be absolutely no doubt.
Now, the big question: who else knows of this little secret? Where do you think one can find deer in the South? :) I’m dying to know the story behind all this. ;)
Omigosh, Betty, you just stumbled on Santa’s secret southern hideaway!
I know there some in Alabang Hills Village, just outside Gate 1. Usually, in the morning you would spot them near the fence and there are some peacocks roaming around that area also.
There are deers in Dasmariñas, Cavite. Just in front of DLSU Medical Center.
Yeah I see them too in that field between Hillsborough and Alabang Hills, along Don Jesus. There’s also that huge compound that straddles the border between AHVA and Hillsborough where I always hear a lot of jungle animal type sounds (I can’t tell what kind of animals - just that they’re not your usual birds.
Oma, IKR (sorry ha, am trying to practice my net acronyms; laos na daw ako kasi hindi ko naintindihan ang IKR hahaha)! Malapit na silang mag active duty, December na. ;)
Jino,
Wow ha, I’ve never seen the peacocks. May sarili nang mini-zoo ang mga taga Alabang Hills, hahaha.
DATC,
“Jungle animal type sounds” LOL. I know exactly what you mean. Mas exotic somehow.
Jeff,
Secret stash ni Santa yung sa Alabang, backup siguro yung sa Cavite, hahaha! ;) Thanks for the info!
You would see the peacocks in the morning. Most of the time you can see them inside Alabang Hills… After you enter gate 1, turn right at the first rotonda, (I think it’s Dona Many) then, before the curve you would see the white peackocks on the perimeter fence.
