It’s been a busy week, but now the weekend is here: time to prepare a bunch of posts for next week! Lots of new stuff for the site–an article about 55AZ Southern Flavors from Hanz, winners of the Starbucks planner promo, new contributors, more directory entries to be uploaded. I’ve got a waaay-delayed (sorry Trixie!) post about my fun, out-of-the-ordinary (for me, anyway) Sumthin’ Nails manicure, a post about Kenji Tei, a great little ramen place Zu and I discovered (and that my sister, brother-in-law, and I now frequent), and an entry on Miraj (sorry, bad pictures, nighttime is the only time I’ve been there, and both times my camera decided to die).
I also meant to post about the Kilalanin forum, which Aweng and I attended last weekend–it may be a little late now, but the quick report is that it was a very enlightening and well-attended event. Kudos to the organizers for putting it together (there were so many people that they had to start turning non-residents away, which was too bad but understandable). I’ll keep my political opinions to myself, but hearing what the candidates had to say made me stop and reconsider my choice–which is not a bad thing; in fact I think we should all be encouraged to continue listening and assessing with open minds and a critical attitude. We’ve got a few months more in which to finalize our decisions–let’s do the work well, for the sake of our country.
Another quick announcement (will have the formal post up on the Billboard soon): The Singles Apostolate of St. James the Great Renewal Movement is hosting the advanced screening of Invictus on February 16. This is a fundraising event to help raise funds for the next Singles Encounter retreat (I was part of SE16) and to contribute to the Joseph Gualandi School for the Hearing Impaired. You all can help out by buying a ticket, inviting a friend, spreading the news, becoming a sponsor, or advertising in the souvenir program.
That’s it for now… will sit back, enjoy the fresh Southern air, and take a well-deserved weekend break… after which I’ll get back to my Southbound duties. Looking forward to sharing more stuff with you. :)
